Drew Love has served as the Assistant Northeast Coordinator for the Real Food Challenge since 2012. He worked closely with students and administrators at UMass Amherst resulting in the Real Food Challenge Commitment signing in the fall of 2013, where UMass Amherst dedicated to spend 20% of their food budget on sustainable, local, and fair trade food by 2020.
He is currently working with students and administrators in the greater Boston area to achieve similar results at Northeastern University, Boston University, and Suffolk.
Before joining the Real Food Challenge, Drew worked with Mass Farmers Markets and the Farmers Market Coalition. Those projects focused on the national, state, and city wide implementation of SNAP acceptance at farmers markets. Some of his work included national analysis of SNAP redemption trends at farmers markets, as well as community outreach and promotion for the program.
He has also worked with the Northeast Organic Farming Association of MA to establish affordable CSA options for low-income communities in Madison Park, Malden, and East Boston.
